We chose the Broken Pier on Siesta Key for our main location of our film. We chose the Pier because it is a well-known location and lots of teenagers our age hang out there. This makes the film seem more realistic as the people missing from this location in our project are teenagers and the main character is a teenager. If people were actually missing everybody would know if the signs were posted up by the pier. The day we decided to shoot our film, the weather will be ominous which will help create an eerie feeling for our audience. The pier typically has less people than the actual Siesta Key Beach so we chose this because we will not have distractions or random people in the background. We decided we are going to start shooting at 4 p.m. because the lighting is not too bright/harsh. The pier is also easily accessible as there is a long road that goes right up to it so you do not have to walk far. We can drive our cars right up to where we are shooting so we can set up our cameras, microphones, props, and costumes in the car without having to walk too far. However, when we decided to re-film our project we did so at the Siesta Key pavilion picnic tables. We decided to change locations because after we finished the first movie the sound was very faint due to the wind blocking the microphones. We also decided that the picnic tables would be a better place for Rachel and Shane to have a conversation because the camera would not be shaky as the actors would be sitting still instead of walking. Overall, the change of location from the Broken Pier to the Siesta Key Beach picnic tables fixed the problem of sound and the shaky camera that our piers pointed out in the first viewing of our movie.
